WE ARE IN THE SCIENCE OF DESIGNING EXPERIENCES
As educators and leaders, we have studied and practiced to understand the facilitation powers of unique experiences in creating transformative learning and development. We have sought the most effective ways to improve and inspire people in a relevant and meaningful way. Our process is a culmination of three decades worth of research and practice.
Our mission is to teach you the knowledge and tools to intentionally build a great life for yourself, your family, and your colleagues in the pursuit of meaning, happiness, and adventure.

Why the name Beta?
The concept of Beta is used in each of our specialties.
Outdoor / Climbing
In the outdoor world, the beta is the route information that guides a climber to a successful summit. It includes advice on how to complete (or protect) a particular route and help you to plan correctly, to avoid dangers, and to fully experience the adventure.
What route plan have you built (in life or in work) to ensure that you successfully navigate the risks and problems that you will encounter along the way?
Research & Development
In statistical research, beta is directly related to power, the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis when the null hypothesis is false. In essence, it is the initial knowledge concerning the expectation of, or the probability of, success.
In developmental terms, beta is a trial of machinery, software, or other products, in the final stages of its development. Used to refine a product before it’s ready for the market.
What pursuits have you found to be in misalignment with your core values? As you correct the course, what types of adjustments have you found to be effective?
Business
In business, beta is a measure of the risk arising from exposure to general movements as opposed to idiosyncratic factors or unsystematic risk based on prior performance. Business experts use beta to reduce volatility and create more diversified portfolios. It provides a clearer perspective on what should and what will happen in the future based on past trends.
Based on the past trends of your portfolio of activities, what have you used to mitigate problems and to accurately predict success?
WHY WE ADVENTURE
Adventures are full of situations and risks impacting the perception of strengths, vulnerability, and potential.
This elemental environment sets the stage to learn more profound lessons about values, incentives, and purpose. The healthy mix of challenge (physical and mental), efficacy, achievement, reflection, and natural beauty contributes to the purifying process (sublimation) that has the power to illuminate perspectives, transform behaviors, and provide greater meaning and direction.
